Hapaku Kitchen offers excellent food and service and has been recognized internationally. The team of four is lead by the wife-husband team of Fiona and Chris who made the life changing decision of moving from Christchurch to Kaikōura 14 years ago.

Fiona and Chris are being supported by Bridge and Louise, two powerhouse ladies who fit amazingly into the team with shared values for sustainability and the community.
Fiona is the Chef and Owner of Hapuku Kitchen Cooking School. She sees the art of creating delicious food from locally-foraged ingredients as a way of telling lasting stories about the world around us.
Fiona was a finalist on MasterChef New Zealand, which was the catalyst to her running the kitchen of the luxury eco lodge, Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses. But it is her Scottish heritage, family background of foraging and using ‘what’s on the doorstep and at its best’, and the ultimate goal of creating genuine memories for her guests in each forkful that guides the creativity of her dishes.
