Board our helicopter and head out to explore the Hikurangi Marine reserve where the whales live close to the Kaikōura coastline. Now is your chance to ask all the whale and dolphin questions you ever had and learn first-hand about the environmental impacts you can have on the ocean and its habitants.
Afterwards, we will head to Karaka Lobster, a small café found on the coastline north of Kaikōura for a light lunch. The cafe is owned by the Reader's, a 3rd generation, local fishing family who catch the crayfish that Kaikōura is named after and famous for.
After lunch, your pilot will take you on a scenic helicopter tour past the 2016 Kaikōura Earthquake site further up the coast. See large landslides, diverted rivers due to fault lines and the massive recovery efforts from the local community before returning to our Kaikōura base.
This tour is part of our 'Giving Back' Initiative'.
